Art on Fashion

art in fashion

In a recent issue of “Fashion” magazine, Karen von Hahn states, “in fashion terms, art is the New Black”. This Spring many collections being shown reflected work by iconic 20th century artists. At Prada, muralistic art was transferred onto dresses. Gucci showed art deco flourishes reflecting the work of Erte. Tropical prints were also seen. Pollock-like splatters of primary-hued paint were seen at Jill Sander’s show. And so it goes, fashion reflecting art throughout many Spring couture Dries Van Notencollections.

During his Spring runway show, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac live-streamed from backstage as a backdrop to his event. He showed himself painting, in real time, a bold graphic directly onto the model’s dress before sending her down the catwalk, dress still wet from his brush.

Artwear seems to be alive and well, literally!
